Lada is a Russian brand of cars manufactured by AvtoVAZ, a company based in Tolyatti, Russia. The brand was originally created in the early 1970s, specifically tailored for the export market under the Soviet Union, while the same vehicles were sold domestically as Zhiguli. Over the decades, Lada became synonymous with Soviet and Eastern European motoring, known for its durable and straightforward designs like the Niva and the classic Riva series.

The brand's ownership has seen significant transformations. Since the early 2000s, Lada underwent modernization through a strategic partnership with the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. However, following geopolitical shifts in 2022, Renault sold its controlling interest back to the Russian state-owned enterprise NAMI. Today, Lada is fully owned and operated under the Russian government's oversight, with manufacturing remains concentrated at the Tolyatti plant, the world's largest automotive factory complex.
