Pantene is a globally recognized hair care brand that traces its origins back to Switzerland in 1945. It was founded by the Swiss drug company Hoffmann-La Roche, which developed the brand after discovering the strengthening benefits of Pro-Vitamin B5 (panthenol) on hair. The brand's name itself is derived from this key ingredient. In 1985, Pantene was acquired by Richardson-Vicks, which was subsequently purchased by the American multinational consumer goods corporation Procter & Gamble (P&G) later that same year.
Today, Pantene is managed as a flagship beauty brand under Procter & Gamble's extensive portfolio. While the brand has Swiss roots and is headquartered in the United States, its products are manufactured in various regional hubs to supply global markets. In the Southeast Asian region, including Singapore, Pantene products are primarily manufactured in Thailand, which serves as a major production base for P&G's personal care lines in Asia.
