Founded in 1877 by Pietro Barilla in Parma, Italy, the brand has grown from a local bread and pasta shop into the world's leading pasta manufacturer. To this day, the company remains family-owned, managed by the fourth generation of the Barilla family (brothers Guido, Luca, and Paolo Barilla).
Manufacturing takes place in various global facilities to meet international demand. While a significant portion of production is located in Italy, the company also operates large-scale manufacturing plants in the United States (such as in Iowa and New York) and other regions to ensure freshness and reduce transport emissions for local markets.
