Vermont Castings is a premier brand in the home heating industry, known for its high-quality, cast iron wood and gas stoves. The company was founded in 1975 in Randolph, Vermont, by Duncan Syme and Murray Howell. Their goal was to create efficient, beautiful stoves that reflected American artisanal quality during the energy crisis of the 1970s.
Today, the brand continues to manufacture its products primarily in the United States, specifically maintaining its own foundry in Randolph and a manufacturing facility in Bethel, Vermont. This integrated manufacturing process allows the brand to maintain high standards for cast iron durability and heat efficiency.
Vermont Castings is currently owned by Hearth & Home Technologies (HHT), which is a subsidiary of HNI Corporation. HHT is the world's leading manufacturer and producer of hearth products. While ownership has transitioned from a small Vermont startup to a large corporate entity, the core production remains centralized in the United States to uphold the brand's heritage of craftsmanship.
