This product is a table lamp based on the iconic Festivo glass design. Originally created in 1966 by the renowned Finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva, the Festivo series was first produced as a range of candle holders by the Finnish glassworks Iittala. The design is famous for its rough, ice-like texture, which was achieved by casting glass in wooden molds, a technique Sarpaneva pioneered to create a distinctively organic, 'melting ice' aesthetic.
While the glass base is a genuine Iittala Festivo piece manufactured in Finland, the specific configuration shown in the image—featuring a large decorative filament bulb and a black collar—is a conversion. Many vintage Festivo candle holders have been modified by third parties or lighting specialists into table lamps to adapt the timeless sculptural base into a functional light fixture. The glass itself remains a hallmark of Finnish modernist design, characterized by the 'rings' around the central column which signify different sizes in the original candle holder collection.
The brand Iittala is a cornerstone of Nordic design history, founded in 1881 in the village of Iittala, Finland. Today, it operates as part of the Fiskars Group, a global home products company. The Festivo line remains one of the most collected and recognizable examples of 20th-century Scandinavian glassware.
