Freixenet is one of the world's most recognizable names in sparkling wine, originally established in 1861 by the Ferrer family in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Spain. The brand became a global leader by specializing in Cava, produced using the traditional method. This specific product, Carta Rosina, is part of their premium selection of Spanish sparkling wines, often produced using the Charmat method to maintain a fresh and fruity profile.
In 2018, a significant shift in ownership occurred when the German sparkling wine giant Henkell & Co. Sektkellerei (a subsidiary of the Oetker Group) acquired a majority stake in Freixenet. This merger created the Henkell Freixenet group, which is currently the world's leading producer of sparkling wines. While the brand maintains its Spanish heritage and produces its wines in the Penedès region of Spain, its ultimate corporate steering comes from Germany.
