Toblerone is one of the world's most iconic chocolate brands, instantly recognizable by its unique triangular prism shape and its blend of milk chocolate, honey, and almond nougat. The brand was established in 1908 in Bern, Switzerland, by Theodor Tobler and Emil Baumann. The name is a portmanteau of the founder's surname, Tobler, and 'torrone', the Italian word for honey and almond nougat.

For over a century, the product was manufactured exclusively in Bern. However, following the acquisition by multinational food conglomerate Mondelez International, production was partially shifted to Bratislava, Slovakia, in 2023. This change in manufacturing location prompted the brand to redesign its packaging, as Swiss 'Swissness' legislation requires products labeled as 'Swiss milk chocolate' to be produced entirely within the country.

Today, Toblerone remains a global leader in the confectionery market, owned by Mondelez International. Despite the change in production sites for some varieties, the brand continues to honor its heritage through its design, which historically featured the Matterhorn mountain and the hidden bear of Bern in its logo.
