Polenguinho is one of Brazil's most iconic dairy products, known for its portability and UHT processing that allows it to be stored without refrigeration. The brand was created by Polenghi, a company founded in 1947 by Italian immigrants in Angatuba, São Paulo. The specific "Polenguinho" square cheese was launched in 1955 and quickly became a staple in Brazilian lunchboxes.
In 1977, the company was acquired by the French group Savencia Fromage & Dairy (formerly known as Soparind Bongrain). Today, Polenguinho remains a leader in the processed cheese portion segment in Brazil. The product is manufactured locally in Brazil across the company's various facilities in states like São Paulo and Minas Gerais. The parent company, Savencia, is a global leader in specialty cheeses and continues to expand its Brazilian footprint, recently acquiring other local brands like Quatá to strengthen its market position.
