Oral-B is one of the world's most recognizable dental health brands, originally founded in the United States in 1950 by Robert W. Hutson. The brand gained prominence for its innovative toothbrush designs and was eventually acquired by Gillette in 1984. The Glide sub-brand itself has a unique heritage, originating from technology developed within the W. L. Gore & Associates company (the makers of Gore-Tex) before being fully integrated into the Oral-B portfolio.
Today, Oral-B is a cornerstone brand of the Procter & Gamble (P&G) company, following P&G's acquisition of Gillette in 2005. Manufacturing for Oral-B dental floss products takes place globally, with a significant amount of the Glide tape production remaining in North America to maintain the specific material standards. As a brand under the P&G umbrella, it benefits from the extensive global distribution network of its American parent company, making it a staple in household hygiene across multiple continents.
