Milo is a world-renowned brand originally developed in Australia during the Great Depression. Thomas Mayne, a Nestlé chemical engineer, created the chocolate and malt powder drink in 1934 to provide essential nutrition to children. Following the massive success of the beverage, the brand expanded into several other categories, including breakfast cereals, snacks, and ready-to-drink options.
Today, Milo-branded cereals are produced in multiple locations globally to serve different regional markets. While originally an Australian invention, the brand is managed through a strategic joint venture between Cereal Partners Worldwide (CPW), which is a partnership between Nestlé and General Mills. Ownership remains tied to Nestlé, the Swiss multinational food and beverage giant, ensuring its status as a staple in households across Oceania, Southeast Asia, and Africa.
