Signal is a prominent oral hygiene brand that was originally launched in France by the Union Chimique Lyonnaise (later part of Unilever) in 1961. It is famous for introducing the first red-striped toothpaste to the market. Today, the brand is part of a global portfolio, with production facilities distributed throughout Europe, although major manufacturing for the DACH region often occurs in France.

Since its inception, the brand has remained under the umbrella of Unilever, a British multinational consumer goods company. Unilever manages Signal as a core part of its personal care division. In some markets, the same products are sold under different names like Pepsodent or Mentadent, but the Signal branding remains dominant in Germany, France, and Switzerland.
