Sinalco Ice Tea is a popular refreshment produced by the historic German brand Sinalco. Originally founded in 1902 in Detmold, Germany, as 'Bilz-Brause' and later renamed Sinalco in 1905, the brand is one of the oldest soft drink brands in Europe. The brand name itself is derived from the Latin phrase 'sine alcohole,' meaning 'without alcohol.'
The brand has changed ownership several times throughout its history. Since 1994, the brand rights have been owned by the Hövelmann family, specifically through the Deutsche Sinalco GmbH Markengetränke & Co. KG. Based in Duisburg, the family-led company has successfully maintained the brand's presence in the DACH region while expanding its footprint globally through franchises.
Today, Sinalco products like their Ice Tea are manufactured in multiple countries through a network of local bottling partners and franchisees. While the core syrup and branding standards originate from Germany, the final production and distribution are often localized to ensure fresh supply in international markets across Europe, the Middle East, and parts of Africa.
