HERE WeGo is a prominent global navigation and mapping service with roots tracing back to Northern Europe. The brand's journey began with the Finnish telecommunications giant Nokia, which developed the service under names like Ovi Maps and Nokia Maps after acquiring the American mapping firm NAVTEQ. In 2012, the platform was unified and rebranded as HERE.

A major strategic shift occurred in 2015 when Nokia sold the mapping business to a consortium of German automotive leaders, including Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, seeking to ensure European control over critical automotive-grade mapping technology. Today, it is an international venture controlled by a diverse group of investors from the automotive, technology, and logistics sectors, including Intel, Mitsubishi, and Pioneer. As a digital product, it is developed across multiple global hubs, primarily in Germany, the United States, and India, and is maintained by the Dutch-based entity HERE Global B.V.
