Pomorin is a legendary Bulgarian toothpaste brand with a history dating back to the mid-20th century. It is unique for its use of Rapana salt and Liman mud extract—specifically the 'Medical lye' from the Pomorie Salt Lake near the Black Sea—which is rich in minerals and microelements known for their anti-inflammatory and gum-healing properties.
Originally developed by the Bulgarian state-owned pharmaceutical enterprise Alen Mak in the 1950s, the brand became a staple in Eastern Europe for decades. After several changes in corporate structure following the privatization of Alen Mak, the brand rights were eventually acquired by Rubella Beauty AD. Rubella is currently one of the leading Bulgarian manufacturers of cosmetics and personal care products, maintaining the traditional medicinal formulation while modernizing the brand's presence in global markets.
Today, Pomorin continues to be manufactured in Bulgaria, leveraging local natural resources from the Pomorie region. It remains an iconic example of natural-based dental care, particularly valued for its therapeutic benefits for periodontitis and gingivitis.
