Pukka Herbs was founded in 2001 by Tim Westwell and Sebastian Pole in Bristol, United Kingdom. The brand is dedicated to organic herbal wellness and became widely known for its vibrant packaging and ethically sourced ingredients. Although the ingredients like ginger, galangal, and turmeric are sourced globally from regions such as India and Vietnam, the final blending and packaging primarily take place in the UK.

In 2017, the brand was acquired by the multinational giant Unilever. Following a strategic decision by Unilever to focus on other segments, the majority of its tea business, including Pukka Herbs, was spun off into an independent company called ekaterra in 2021. In mid-2022, ekaterra was acquired by CVC Capital Partners, and the entity was subsequently renamed LIPTON Teas and Infusions. Today, Pukka Herbs remains under the ownership of LIPTON Teas and Infusions, headquartered in the Netherlands and the UK.
