7-Eleven is the world's largest convenience store chain, originally founded in Dallas, Texas, in 1927. The brand initially started by selling blocks of ice for preserving food, eventually expanding into staple items like milk and eggs under the name Southland Ice Company.

Today, 7-Eleven operates as a global franchise with a complex manufacturing network. Most private-label products (such as 7-Select) are manufactured by third-party suppliers within the region they are sold to ensure freshness and reduce logistics costs. This means products in the US, Europe, and Asia are produced by different local manufacturers.

While the brand has American roots, it is now wholly owned by a Japanese entity. After a significant investment in the 1990s to save the company from bankruptcy, ownership shifted entirely to Japan. The brand is managed by Seven-Eleven Japan Co., Ltd., which is a subsidiary of the massive retail holding group Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd., based in Tokyo.
