Bauknecht is a historic German brand with deep roots in the appliance industry, founded in 1919 by Gottlob Bauknecht. Originally established as an electrotechnical workshop in Tailfingen, it evolved into a prominent manufacturer of household appliances. Today, Bauknecht is a well-known brand throughout Europe, especially in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Ownership of the brand has transitioned several times over the decades. After being owned by Philips in the 1980s, it became a subsidiary of the American Whirlpool Corporation in 1991. More recently, as part of a major industry consolidation, Whirlpool's European business—including the Bauknecht brand—has come under the control of Beko Europe, a company resulting from a joint venture where the Turkish corporation Arçelik holds a majority stake. Manufacturing for Bauknecht products takes place across multiple locations globally, including factories in Europe and Asia, to serve its international customer base.
