Côte d'Or is a classic Belgian chocolate brand founded in 1883 by Charles Neuhaus. The name, which translates to 'Gold Coast', refers to the region that is now Ghana, the source of its cocoa beans. The brand is famous for its elephant logo and its distinctive, intense chocolate flavor.
Today, Côte d'Or is owned by Mondelēz International, a global snack food giant headquartered in the United States. Despite being part of a multinational corporation, much of the production, especially for the Benelux market, remains centered in Belgium to maintain the brand's heritage. The Chokotoff, seen in the image, is one of their most iconic products, consisting of a firm caramel coated in dark chocolate (Noir/Puur).
