RoC is a legendary skincare brand with deep roots in French pharmaceutical history. It was founded in 1957 by Dr. Jean-Charles Lissarrague at the Rogé Cavaillès pharmacy in Paris. The brand is particularly famous for pioneering the use of Retinol and hypoallergenic skincare formulas, making advanced dermatological treatments accessible for home use.
While the brand's heritage is firmly French, its ownership and manufacturing have evolved significantly over the decades. After being owned by Johnson & Johnson for many years, RoC was acquired by Gryphon Investors in 2019, turning it into a standalone company. In late 2023, Bridgepoint, a prominent private equity firm, reached an agreement to acquire RoC Skincare. Today, the products are distributed globally, with manufacturing primarily located in the United States to serve international markets including the UK and North America.
