Alenka is an iconic brand of milk chocolate that originated in the Soviet Union in 1965. It was developed by the Krasny Oktyabr (Red October) confectionery factory in Moscow as part of a state program to create an affordable and high-quality milk chocolate for the public. The distinctive packaging features a wide-eyed girl wearing a traditional colorful headscarf, an image derived from a photography contest won by the daughter of an artist working at the factory.
Today, the brand remains one of Russia's most famous confectionery products. It is produced primarily at the Krasny Oktyabr factory in Moscow. Alenka is currently owned by the United Confectioners holding (Obiedinenye Konditery), which is the largest confectionery company in Eastern Europe, managing several historic Russian candy brands.
