Galtee is a well-known Irish heritage brand, particularly famous for its bacon, sausages, and other pork products. The brand originated in Mitchelstown, County Cork, taking its name from the nearby Galtee Mountains. It has been a staple in Irish households for generations, and its products are primarily manufactured in Ireland using locally sourced and processed pork to maintain quality and supporting the Irish agricultural sector.
Originally established as part of the Mitchelstown Co-operative Agricultural Society, the Galtee brand became a cornerstone of what would eventually become the Dairygold Co-operative Society. Following a major acquisition in 2004, the brand was purchased by Kerry Group, a global food and ingredients giant. Since 2021, the Galtee brand, along with other Kerry Meats and Meals assets, has been part of Pilgrim's Pride Limited (UK), which is a subsidiary of the Brazilian multinationals JBS S.A., one of the largest meat processing companies in the world.
