Mövenpick is an iconic Swiss brand that originated in 1948 with the opening of its first restaurant in Zurich by Ueli Prager. Known globally for its premium 'fine food' approach, the brand expanded from dining into high-quality food products, most notably gourmet ice cream and coffee.
Today, the ownership of the Mövenpick brand is divided across different industry leaders. While the Mövenpick Group remains the parent for the hotel and restaurant origins, the consumer goods rights are licensed or owned by global giants. The ice cream division, which utilizes the Alpine cream heritage, is managed by Froneri (a joint venture between Nestlé and R&R Ice Cream), while the coffee segment is operated under the J.J. Darboven Group. This dual-ownership structure allows the brand to maintain its Swiss premium positioning while benefiting from global distribution networks.
