Schulstad is one of Denmark's most iconic bakery brands, originally founded in Copenhagen in 1880 by Viggo Schulstad. This specific product, 'Gilleleje Havn', is part of their 'Signaturbrød' (Signature Bread) series, which is developed in collaboration with prominent Danish chefs and restaurants—in this case, restaurant Gilleleje Havn. It is made using traditional Danish rye flour and popped durum kernels.
While the brand has deep Danish roots, it is today part of the international Lantmännen group. Lantmännen is a Swedish agricultural cooperative owned by around 18,000 Swedish farmers. Despite the Swedish ownership, Schulstad maintains its primary production facilities in Denmark, specifically in Hatting and Holstebro, ensuring that the bread remains a local Danish staple.
