The brand trace its roots back to Edwin Land, who founded the Polaroid Corporation in the United States in 1937. Over the decades, the ownership of the eyewear division shifted. In 2011, it was acquired by Safilo Group, one of the world's leading players in the design, manufacture, and distribution of eyewear. Today, Polaroid Eyewear is managed as a key brand within Safilo's portfolio. Manufacturing primarily takes place in Safilo's international facilities, including sites in China and Italy, ensuring global distribution of their iconic polarized sunglasses and optical frames.
