Crunch was originally introduced by the Swiss company Nestlé in 1938 at its Fulton, New York plant in the United States. The classic bar consists of milk chocolate mixed with crisped rice, famously known for its 'crunch' sound when eaten.

Starting in 2018, the ownership structure of the brand became fragmented globally. In the United States, Nestlé sold its confectionery business to the Italian-headquartered Ferrero Group, which now produces and markets the brand in the American market under the Ferrara Candy Company subsidiary. However, Nestlé retained the rights to the Crunch brand in virtually all other international markets, including Europe, Japan, and parts of South America.

Manufacturing takes place in various locations depending on the region. In the U.S., it is typically produced in Illinois, while for the European and global markets, it is manufactured in Nestlé's various confectionery facilities across Switzerland, Brazil, and other territories.
