Zuzu

Zuzu is one of the most prominent dairy brands in Romania, having achieved significant market leadership since its launch. The brand was introduced in 2006 by Albalact, a major Romanian dairy producer with a history dating back to the communist era when it was a state-owned enterprise known as the Alba Iulia Dairy Enterprise.

Today, the manufacturing of Zuzu products is primarily centered at the Albalact production facility in Oiejdea, Alba County, Romania. This facility is recognized as one of the most modern dairy plants in Central and Eastern Europe, utilizing advanced technology to produce a wide range of products including milk, yogurt, and kefir.

Since 2016, the brand has been under the ownership of the Lactalis Group, a French multinational dairy giant. Lactalis acquired Albalact to strengthen its presence in the Romanian market, making Zuzu a key part of its extensive global portfolio. The ultimate ownership resides with the Besnier family in France through their control of the Lactalis corporation.
