Tobradex is a well-known ophthalmic medication containing tobramycin and dexamethasone, primarily used to treat bacterial eye infections and inflammation. The brand was originally developed by Alcon, a company founded in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. For many years, Alcon operated as a subsidiary of the Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis.
Starting in 2019, Novartis spun off Alcon as a separate, publicly traded company. However, in certain markets, specific legacy products or distribution agreements may still involve Novartis branding or subsidiaries. Production occurs in specialized pharmaceutical facilities located in various countries, including Belgium and the United States, to serve global medical needs.
