It began its journey in 1923 as the Kenya Coffee Company, initially operating as a local distributor of high-quality Kenyan coffee beans from a storefront in London. Over the decades, it evolved into a household name, synonymous with instant coffee, ground coffee, and modern single-serve capsules like the Tassimo T Discs.

Today, Kenco is under the ownership of JDE Peet's, a global coffee and tea powerhouse headquartered in the Netherlands. JDE Peet's was formed through the merger of Jacob Douwe Egberts and Peet's Coffee. While the brand maintains a strong British heritage, its manufacturing processes are distributed across various European facilities to serve a global market. The brand continues to focus on sustainability and ethically sourced beans through its 'Coffee Made Happy' program.
