Nespresso Vertuo is a coffee extraction system developed by Nespresso, a subsidiary of the Nestlé Group. The brand originated in Switzerland in the 1980s, revolutionizing the way coffee is prepared at home. While the original Nespresso system focused on espresso, the Vertuo line was launched in 2014 to cater to the North American demand for larger cup sizes, using centrifugal 'Centrifusion' technology.

All Nespresso coffee capsules, including the Vertuo range, are manufactured exclusively in Switzerland at three specialized production centers: Romont, Orbe, and Avenches. These facilities handle the sourcing of green coffee from global partners and manage the roasting, grinding, and sealing of the aluminum pods to ensure consistent quality across global markets. The brand remains a wholly owned subsidiary of Nestlé, maintaining its headquarters in Vevey, Switzerland.
