Milka is one of the world's most recognizable confectionery brands, famous for its Alpine milk chocolate and purple packaging. Originally created in Switzerland in 1901 by Philippe Suchard, the brand has grown from a local Swiss favorite into a global powerhouse. Today, while it retains its Swiss heritage in branding and recipe standards, production is spread across several European facilities, with significant manufacturing plants in Lörrach (Germany), Bludenz (Austria), and Svoboda (Ukraine).

The brand is currently owned by Mondelez International, an American multinational confectionery, food, and beverage conglomerate. Mondelez was formed after the spin-off of Kraft Foods Inc.'s snack food business. Milka is often cross-branded with other Mondelez properties, as seen in this 'Favourites' box which includes mini versions of Oreo and Nussini. This ownership structure allows Milka to benefit from a vast global distribution network while maintaining its specialized identity as a premium European chocolate brand.
