Westfield is one of the world's most iconic commercial real estate brands, recognized primarily for its expansive and high-end shopping centers. The brand has its roots in Sydney, Australia, where it was established as a localized suburban shopping hub before growing into a global powerhouse in retail development. The brand is synonymous with luxury retail environments, dining, and entertainment flagship destinations across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

In 2018, the landscape of Westfield's ownership changed significantly when the French commercial real estate giant Unibail-Rodamco acquired Westfield Corporation. This multi-billion dollar merger created Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW), the premier global developer and operator of flagship shopping destinations. While the brand originated in Australia, its central management and strategic direction are now largely focused out of France and the United States.

Today, Westfield centers are operated by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield in Europe and North America, while the centers in Australia and New Zealand are owned and managed by Scentre Group. Scentre Group was formed in 2014 following the demerger of Westfield Group's Australian and New Zealand operations from its international business. Therefore, depending on the location, the local management may vary, but the brand remains a global leader in high-traffic retail properties.
