Leijona Terva Lakritsi pastilles

Leijona is a classic Finnish confectionery brand known primarily for its distinct 'Terva' (pine tar) flavored pastilles. The brand was originally launched in 1933 by the Hellenic factory in Turku, Finland. It gained fame for its unique salty liquorice profile infused with the traditional Nordic flavor of tar, which was historically used for medicinal and practical purposes in the region.

Over the decades, the brand's ownership shifted through various mergers. It became part of Leaf and eventually Cloetta following the merger of Cloetta and Leaf in 2012. While the brand is deeply rooted in Finnish heritage and remains a staple in the Finnish market, much of its production was moved to Cloetta's centralized manufacturing facilities in Slovakia as part of corporate restructuring. Today, it remains under the ultimate ownership of Cloetta AB, a leading Swedish-based confectionery company.
