DJI, officially known as SZ DJI Technology Co., Ltd., is the global leader in civilian drones and aerial imaging technology. Founded in 2006 by Frank Wang in a college dorm room at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the company quickly evolved into a dominant force in the tech world. Its headquarters and primary research and development hub are located in Shenzhen, China, often referred to as 'China’s Silicon Valley.'

Manufacturing for DJI products is almost exclusively concentrated in Shenzhen and surrounding tech corridors in mainland China. This centralized production model allows the company to rapidly iterate on new models and maintain high control over the vertical supply chain. DJI's products range from professional filmmaking drones like the Inspire series to consumer favorites like the Mavic and Mini series, as well as stabilized handheld cameras and gimbals.

Ownership of DJI remains largely private, with founder Frank Wang maintaining a significant stake. Unlike many technology giants, DJI is not a publicly traded company on any stock exchange. While it has received investments from various venture capital firms over the years, the brand is managed autonomously from its Chinese headquarters, operating a global network of flagship stores and authorized distributors to reach markets in North America, Europe, and Asia.
