Milka is a world-renowned brand of chocolate confectionery, recognized primarily by its distinctive lilac packaging and the 'Milka Cow.' Originally created in Switzerland in 1901 by Philippe Suchard, the brand name is a portmanteau of its main ingredients: Milch (milk) and Kakao (cocoa). Today, while it retains its Alpine heritage, manufacturing takes place in various European locations including Lörrach (Germany), Bludenz (Austria), and sites in Poland and Bulgaria to supply different markets.

Ownership of the brand has transitioned through several major corporate mergers and acquisitions. From its beginnings under Suchard, it became part of Interfood, then Jacobs Suchard, which was eventually acquired by Philip Morris. Following the corporate spin-off of the snack division from Kraft Foods, the brand is now owned by Mondelez International, a global snack food powerhouse headquartered in the United States.
