Swix is a legendary name in the winter sports industry, originally established in 1946 by Børje Gabrielsson and Astra AB. The brand revolutionized cross-country and alpine skiing by introducing the first scientific line of color-coded ski waxes. Over the decades, Swix expanded from a specialist wax manufacturer into a global powerhouse for ski poles, tools, and high-performance technical apparel, becoming a staple at Olympic and World Cup competitions.

Today, Swix is owned by Brav AS (formerly Swix Sport Group), which is controlled by Ferd AS, an industrial and financial group owned by the Andresen family in Norway. While the brand maintains deep Norwegian roots and conducts significant research and development in Lillehammer, its manufacturing is distributed globally to maintain high technical standards. Wax production remains largely concentrated in Norway, while apparel and equipment are manufactured across various European and Asian facilities.
