Promite vegetable extract spread

Promite is a distinctively Australian savoury spread made from vegetable extract and yeast. It was first developed in the 1950s by the Henry Lewis & Sons company as a sweeter alternative to traditional yeast-based spreads like Vegemite. Known for its dark, smooth texture and salty-sweet flavour profile, it has been a staple in Australian households for decades.

Historically, the brand was acquired by Mars Food Australia (formerly MasterFoods) in the late 1960s. Today, it continues to be manufactured in Australia at Mars Food's production facility in Wyong, New South Wales. While the brand is quintessentially Australian in heritage and consumption, it is currently owned by the American multinational company Mars, Incorporated.
