Alpsko mleko is an iconic Slovenian brand of UHT (Ultra-High Temperature) milk, known as the first brand of its kind in the former Yugoslavia. It was introduced in 1967 by Ljubljanske mlekarne, the largest dairy in Slovenia. The brand is famous for its blue and white mountain-themed packaging, which signifies the purity of the Alpine region from which it draws its name and heritage.
Over the decades, Alpsko mleko has expanded its range to include various fat contents, lactose-free options, and flavored milks, maintaining a dominant market position in the Balkans and Central Europe. Ownership shifted in 2013 when the French dairy giant Lactalis acquired a majority stake in Ljubljanske mlekarne, eventually becoming the 100% owner. This acquisition integrated the local Slovenian tradition with the global distribution network and resources of the world's largest dairy products group.
