Hotmail (now Outlook.com)

Hotmail was one of the world's first webmail services, founded in 1996 by Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith in Mountain View, California. The name was originally stylized as HoTMaiL to highlight its use of HTML. It was designed to provide a free, accessible email service that could be used from any web browser.

In 1997, Microsoft acquired Hotmail for an estimated $400 million and integrated it into its MSN group of services. Over the years, it became a cornerstone of Microsoft's online strategy. In 2012, Microsoft began the process of rebranding Hotmail to Outlook.com, modernizing the interface and providing deeper integration with its cloud ecosystem. Today, it remains part of the Microsoft 365 suite.

While software does not have a 'manufacturing' location in the traditional sense, its primary development and server management are headquartered in the United States, utilizing Microsoft's global network of data centers. It remains a wholly-owned service of Microsoft Corporation.
