It is sourced from an artesian aquifer located in the Yagara Valley on the island of Viti Levu. Originally founded in 1996 by Canadian businessman David Gilmour, the brand was created to provide high-quality natural artesian water to the global market. In 2004, the brand was acquired by Roll Global, which later rebranded to The Wonderful Company. The water is bottled at the source to ensure purity and is exported to over sixty countries worldwide.

Today, FIJI Water remains a subsidiary of The Wonderful Company, a privately held American corporation. The company oversees all aspects of production, from sourcing the water in Fiji to distribution across North America, Europe, and Asia, maintaining its status as a leading imported bottled water brand in the United States.
