The brand was formed in 2002 through a merger between the Danish company OBH (Ole Bødtcher-Hansen) and the Swedish company Nordica. It quickly became a market leader in Scandinavia, known for combining functional design with a distinct aesthetic.

Since 2015, the brand has been under the ownership of Groupe SEB, a French multinational conglomerate that is one of the world's largest manufacturers of small domestic appliances. While the design and technical specifications often originate in the Nordic region to maintain the brand's heritage, the physical manufacturing of their kitchenware, including this toaster, is primarily conducted in China to leverage global supply chains.
