Daiya is a leading brand in the plant-based food industry, best known for its dairy-free cheese alternatives. Founded in 2008, the company revolutionized the vegan market by introducing products that melt and stretch like traditional dairy cheese. The brand's product line has since expanded to include plant-based pizzas, dressings, and desserts, catering to consumers with dietary restrictions such as lactose intolerance, gluten sensitivities, and soy allergies.
While the brand was born in Burnaby, British Columbia, it has achieved global reach. In 2017, the company was acquired by the Japanese pharmaceutical giant Otsuka Pharmaceutical. Despite this change in ownership, Daiya maintains its headquarters and primary manufacturing operations in its state-of-the-art facility in Canada, which is one of the largest plant-based food manufacturing sites in North America. This ensures that the brand remains rooted in its Canadian heritage while benefiting from the global distribution network and R&D resources of its parent company.
