Tim Tam is an iconic brand of chocolate biscuits originally created by the Australian biscuit company Arnott's in 1964. They consist of two malted biscuits separated by a light chocolate cream filling and coated in a thin layer of textured chocolate. The recipe was invented by Ian Norris, who was inspired by the British Penguin biscuit during a trip to the UK.
While the brand is a cultural staple of Australia and the majority of production remains in the country (with major bakeries in Sydney, Adelaide, and Brisbane), its ownership has changed hands through international acquisitions. After being owned by the American Campbell Soup Company for several decades, Arnott's was sold in 2019 to KKR & Co. Inc., an American global investment firm. Today, Tim Tam products are distributed worldwide, often reaching Spanish and European markets through specialty importers or global snack distributors.
