Brand Origin and History

Pearl Beer traces its history back to San Antonio, Texas, where it was first brewed in 1883 by the City Brewery. The name was inspired by a German brewmaster who thought the bubbles in the beer resembled sparkling pearls. It became a flagship brand of the Pearl Brewing Company, which was a dominant force in the Texas brewing scene for over a century.

Manufacturing and Brewing

While originally brewed at the iconic Pearl Brewery complex in San Antonio, production eventually shifted as the brewery transitioned into a multi-use complex (The Pearl District). Today, Pearl Lager is brewed under contract at various facilities, primarily in the United States, maintaining its historical association with Texas heritage.

Ownership and Distribution

The brand is currently owned by the Pabst Brewing Company. Pabst focuses on preserving the heritage of classic regional American beers through its portfolio. Although the brewing is outsourced, the brand remains a symbol of San Antonio's brewing legacy and continues to be distributed primarily in the Southern United States.
