Penaten Baby Care

Penaten is a legendary German baby care brand founded in 1904 by Max Riese in Rhöndorf. Riese revolutionized infant hygiene by inventing the 'Penaten Creme' in the iconic blue tin, which used wool fat (lanolin) as its protective base. The brand quickly became a staple in German households for treating diaper rash and skin irritation.

In 1986, the brand was acquired by the American multinational Johnson & Johnson. Over the following decades, production was gradually shifted from Germany to various locations across Europe, including Italy, France, and Greece. In 2023, Johnson & Johnson spun off its consumer health division into an independent company called Kenvue. As of 2024 and beyond, Kenvue is the ultimate owner and operator of the Penaten brand, maintaining its heritage while managing its global distribution from its headquarters in the United States.
