Lotus Nessu is a quintessential Finnish brand of pocket tissues that has been a staple in Finnish households for decades. The brand name, Nessu, has become almost synonymous with paper tissues in Finland. Originally developed by the Finnish company Nokia (before it became a telecommunications giant), the brand transitioned through several owners as the pulp and paper industry consolidated.
Today, the product is manufactured at the Nokia mill in Finland, ensuring it maintains its local heritage and high standards of quality. The manufacturing process utilizes 100% cellulose fibers, often from sustainable sources, to ensure softness and durability. The packaging reflects its long-standing presence in the market, highlighting over 40 years of service to Scandinavian consumers.
The brand is currently owned by Essity, a global hygiene and health company headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Essity was spun off from SCA (Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget) in 2017 to focus specifically on consumer tissue and personal care products. In Finland, the business operates under Oy Essity Finland Ab, keeping production local while benefiting from the resources of an international parent company.
