Metz is a historic German brand originally founded in Fürth, Bavaria, in 1938 by Paul Metz. Traditionally renowned for its high-quality televisions and photographic flash units, the brand became a symbol of German engineering excellence. After facing financial difficulties, the TV division was acquired by the Chinese electronics giant Skyworth in 2015.
Today, the brand operates under two primary labels: 'Metz Classic,' which remains focused on the premium European market with manufacturing often occurring at the original site in Zirndorf, Germany, and 'Metz Blue,' which is a global brand targeting a broader audience with manufacturing facilities located in multiple countries, primarily China and through regional assembly plants across Europe and Asia. This dual-brand strategy allows the company to maintain its German heritage while leveraging the global manufacturing scale and technological resources of its Chinese parent company.
