Grothe is a renowned German brand specializing in signaling technology, intercom systems, and building automation. Founded in 1892 in Cologne, Germany, by Heinrich Grothe, the company established itself as a leader in premium doorbells and gongs.

In 2001, Grothe joined the Urmet Group, a major Italian international conglomerate based in Turin. This partnership allowed Grothe to expand its distribution networks while maintaining its core engineering base in Germany. Today, while high-end engineering and specific product lines are still managed in Hennef, Germany, some electronic components and lower-tier models are manufactured across international sites within the Urmet network, including China.
