Woolrich is one of the oldest outdoor clothing brands in the United States, originally established in Pennsylvania in 1830. The brand became famous for its wool blankets and rugged outdoor clothing, specifically the iconic 'Buffalo Check' shirt. Over the decades, Woolrich expanded its reach through licensing and international partnerships, particularly in Europe.

Starting in 2016, the brand underwent a significant transformation when Woolrich International was formed through a merger with its European licensee, WP Lavori in Corso. This shift culminated in the acquisition by the private equity firm L-GAM in 2018. Today, the brand's headquarters and management are based in Italy, while the manufacturing process is global, utilizing high-quality textile facilities in Europe, Asia, and North America depending on the product line.
