Sky television service

Sky is a major British broadcaster and telecommunications company that revolutionized the European television landscape with its satellite service. Founded in 1989 by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation through the launch of Sky Television, it later merged with British Satellite Broadcasting to become BSkyB.

Today, Sky operates across several European countries, including the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, and Italy. While its headquarters and primary broadcasting facilities are located in the United Kingdom, the brand underwent a significant ownership change in 2018. Following a high-profile bidding war, Sky was acquired by the American telecommunications giant Comcast, which remains its ultimate owner today.
