Côte d'Or is a premier Belgian chocolate brand that has been a symbol of quality and craftsmanship since its founding in 1883. The name, which translates to 'Gold Coast,' pays homage to the region where the cocoa beans were originally sourced. Throughout its long history, the brand has remained a staple in the European confectionery market, known for its intense and authentic chocolate flavors.

In the late 20th century, the brand underwent significant corporate ownership changes. It was initially acquired by Jacobs Suchard, which later became part of Kraft Foods. Today, Côte d'Or is owned by Mondelēz International, one of the world's largest snacking companies. While the brand maintains its Belgian identity and historical roots, its production and distribution are managed through Mondelēz's extensive global logistics network, with a significant amount of production still occurring in its native Belgium at the Halle plant.
